Are you someone who loves bamboo and wants to ask a lot of questions?
Then you should spend a day with Brian Erickson at his garden/workshop near Guapiles,
Costa Rica. Take a tour of the gardens containing 35 bamboo species interspersed among other plants and trees.
Observe some unusual approaches to bamboo use by visiting the workshop of this prototype designer (formerly with Funbambu---the shop itself is one of the very last modular prefab structures to come out of Funbambu’s panel factory).
Set up your calendar for the kind of day you would like to spend with Brian, with emphasis on your interests and questions.
This is the place to learn about bamboo from the young plant in the ground, through to maturity and harvest, and then on to the necessary processes involved in making the variety of finished products which are the distinction of this workshop. Bibliography and other resources are also available.
2 to 4 people, $200 for a full day. Light refreshments provided in the morning. Brown bag lunch recommended.
Brian Erickson is also available to give workshops both inside of Costa Rica and beyond, in English or Spanish.
